If you're a fan of comic books, video games, and other geekery, Stacy's shop is for you!  Custom work is her forte- whether it's shoes, purses, or other accessories, you'll find it here.

"My husband and I enjoy painting together as a pasttime. We like comic book characters, video game characters, and anime best. We also do scenery or other projects, if asked. We also like to construct other items (like the Mario NES question mark boxes that we made for a friend or our son's dresser that we painted together).

I don't remember not painting, or at least doing some kind of art. My grandparents owned a small craft shop on the local waterfront for years before they got too sick to run it any more...I remember being a little girl and sitting in on tole painting, stained glass workshops, watercolor lessons, china painting, beading, jewelry making, you name it!"

Can you believe this is actually a handpainted dresser?

Sabine’s Magical Hawaiian Menehunes are enchanting little collectible dolls!  Each one is handmade and has its own story, along with lots of character!

Oli (Chant), with gourd.

From her etsy profile:

“The beautiful, secluded mountains of Kau on the Big Island of Hawaii are my home. Writing about the mystical spirit of Hawaii and crafting Menehune dolls are my passions. The timeless wisdom of Hawaiian culture inspires me. Living in Hawaii along with intensive studies and research has given me some knowledge to integrate Hawaiian traditions and symbolism into my art and writings, and further increased my deep love and respect for all that is Hawaii.

Honoring magical Hawaii and spreading its magnificent Aloha spirit throughout the world has become my life’s purpose and led me to many wonderful things including the creation of Magical Hawaiian Menehunes.”

May is Asian Pacific Islander month!

Asian Pacific Islander month  isn’t about going to the nearest Chinese restaurant and watching an old Kung Fu movie at home (although those are always fun!)- it’s about learning about the history, traditions, and people who make up this part of the American people .  Every person’s story and experience is different, and that rich history has helped to make the USA diverse and strong!

To help celebrate, we’ll be featuring each active team member this month, starting today.  We’ll also have some trivia and links to other sites posted.

To kick things off, here is the Presidential Proclamation for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (dated April 30, 2013):
